Writing to Government Ministers

You may also write directly to the Government Ministers responsible for these proposals.

Ministers tend not to like what they refer to as “cut-and-paste” letters, in other words, various people all sending in letters which are identical and appear to have all been written by the same person. You should try, therefore, to make your letter “individual” and personal to you. The letters below should be treated as an example of what to write, but please try to adapt and “re-write” them as much as possible.

  1. Download the files below for each Minister you want to write to and save them onto your computer.
  2. Open the required file.
  3. At the top of the letter, type in your Name, Address and the Date where shown.
  4. Make your own amendments to the text of the letter. You may use the text provided as a starting-point but you should try to make the letter “your own”.
  5. Print out the letter, and sign it by hand after the word “Yours” at the end.The Ministers are:
Claire Perry: Minister for Energy (under the Dept for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy) Open this file: Suggested letter to Claire Perry Final Draft
Greg Clark: Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. Open this file: Suggested letter to Greg Clark Final Draft
This Department (BEIS) is responsible for the proposals to make fracking “Nationally Significant Infrastructure”
James Brokenshire: Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government. Open this file: Suggested letter to James Brokenshire Final Draft
This Department is responsible for proposing that Test Drilling should not require Planning Permission

To write to these Government Ministers, please send your letter to our MP Lee Rowley at House of Commons, London SW1A 0AA with a covering letter asking him to pass on your letters to the Minister concerned. Mr Rowley has agreed to do this for us.
