Lee Rowley in Westminster

20 March 2019
Lee Rowley introduced a “Ten Minute Rule Bill” in Parliament on the 19th March 2019, with the aim of putting into law the current safety regulations regarding fracking-induced seismic activity. He put forward a powerful argument, not just about fixing the current safety regulations for seismic activity into law, but also against the potential proliferation of fracking activity across the north of England. Thankfully his Bill passed the first reading unopposed, which means it now moves on to a second hearing which we believe will take place on Friday 22 March.

CADAF wishes to place on record our sincere thanks to Lee for introducing this Bill and for all he is doing on our behalf.

Lee Rowley gave “Government Officials” a grilling about fracking, in particular about liability for decommissioning wellpads after use and the “traffic light” safety regulations for stopping fracking activity when it causes seismic events and tremors, at a Public Accounts Select Committee session on 11 February. He was calm and assertive throughout, but stood for no nonsense. Watch the video (12 minutes duration) by clicking the link here.

There is also a report on the Drill Or Drop website in which Lee gives his follow-up reaction to the session which you can read here.
